the UnWavering uncut

Weekday - Because of the play, I didn't think I needed to go to Theater class...so I didn't. I was so tired in my WS seminar that the teacher apologized for me being exhausted and backed up our papers, yessir! I got an email from my teacher about me sleeping during class presentations. I'm not worried, I have mine this upcoming Thurs....but I will make sure to be awake for the presentations on Tuesday. I went to Biochem class on Wednesday and the teacher never showed! I let it go and just went back to my room and packed. I did a lot of work but no grades to mention this week.

Weekend - So, I have already discussed much of my Thanksgiving holiday so I will not try to repeat things. I bought myself an 8 GB flash drive (put all my pics and videos on it) and a few long sleeve shirts cause it is cold in SC & Geogia. I had some important discussions on where I will be come next semester. The decision has been unofficially made. What else? I will try to finish my Chem presentation on Sunday so I can handle other things during the week. I must schedule a mock interview (maybe two), write a paper, turn in a rough draft, get my mind prepared for my interview, and more. Wish me luck!!!

the Hidden Weekly

Week 8

Monday: usual stuff; work, school... I had a midterm in French, it was easy... I'll probably get the grade back tomorrow. I don't really care about it though. In the management class I had quiz as usual. The professor is leaving for Atlanta after the semester ends to do his PhD at GSU. I think I got more excited than him. One thing I like about that class (Management Concepts) is that I'm the only one with an A in class and I don't even have a book. I study PPT presentations. It's just that easy. At home; I mostly ate and tried to study... then I just went to bed.

Tuesday; I did more studying at work than the actual work but I had to. It's not bad as long as I get the job done. Then I went to Georgi Today office and gave them a new ad for the next issue. I also checked how it looked. Then I went to see one of the construction sites that out company is involved with but I could not find it. lol. then I went home, changed... put on a polo and a hoddie instead of wearing a shirt and a coat being all official. I got on the bus, turned my iPod on and went to school. I got a call from this girl who does advertising for some advertising catalogou. She was like Batono Givi (Mr. Givi) can we meet tomorrow. I felt awkward but it felt good. At school, I got grades for the midterm - 95% baby!!! Then we had a quiz I studied for 15 minutes before the class but I think I did well. During the break (actually during class as well) I was messing around as always. Damn, school is too much fun (that's only on weekdays, fuck tests on Sundays). On the way home my Dad told me that my cousin had a baby girl Nino... great news.

Wednesday: I met with Maka, she had some offers for the advertising catalogue. I told her I would think about it. oh, the funny thing was that she immediately smiled when she saw me, cause she was expecting someone (let's say) different as a marketing manager. Then I got the news that the French class got canceled so no midterm that day... but on Sunday. That allowed me to sit and do the statistics for the Real-estate prices in Tbilisi and some regions. That got me really tired because it mainly involved clicking and entering data and formulas in the excel sheet... boring but neccessary. Then I just went home but had to go back to office to give the keys to the manager... see my boss took his keys and there was no one left to close the office. At home I was being lazy, the whole time. I got an email saying the Thursday French class got cancelled too. now that was good. Oh I also contacted Exchange Programs manager at my school so that I could make a presentation. She decided to plan it on Saturday at 10 am. WTF. later that day didn't work for the school so... there you go.

Thursday: worked on little stuff in the office. Then I went to IREX office to get application forms dor the presentation. Then I went to visit my grandmother... have you met someone who's so happy to see you that they go speachless and start to mumble? that's what happened to her... I was scared for a moment. I mean she's 85. My uncle showed up too. I said hello. I'm making progress. at home; I chatted with T.R.I.V.I. wished him happy thanksgiving. I also had a quick chat with Nevena, which was cool. I miss my gin buddy.

Friday: I had to go to a bank couple of times to withdraw money and pay the landowners. Those stacks of 100 dollar bills felt good in my hand. I also contacted Maka and told her we wouldn't do ads in tehir catalogue until spring but we need some of their services still so... we'll be working next couple of weeks (if the price is right). I also helped my coworker with translating some documents to English. She wouldn't listen though, she checked every word in the dictionary. I was like... (bitch) I told you. Then I got out of office to go next door but the door was closed. It turned out that our coworkers decided to scare us and came in through the window... Anyways I went for class. it was fun as usual. We designed a consequence matrix to decide which school would be better to do an MBA at. I repped Goizueta Business School and guess which school got the most points... that's right, Georgia State University (I'm just joking; GBS baby!)

Saturday: presentation at 10am. it was packed lol. I counted about... 1 student... oh, whatever... they missed their chance. I went to work for a briefing. It was raining and I had to walk. By the time the clothes dried up, I had to go back to school. The class lasted for just an hour. Then I called up my dad. We went to the mall to get me a coat to wear with a suit. It's expensive but gotta step it up. I should look appropriately. Then we went to a restaurant to celebrate the birth of Nino. There were a lot of people. Most of them; I don't enjoy being around with. But I still had good time... one of my closest frineds was there too, we happen to be related as well. he's cousin is my cousin's husband. I left early to go home and study for the damn midterm. I had to turn down the invitation to a club. It was sooo tempting but I resisted.

Sunday: I had the midterm, it was hard, long and included stuff we never reviewed. The dude is an asshole, what can I say. Then I went to see my grandma again. She was talking fine this time. As I was going up the stairs I was like; I hate this place. And I really do. It's a small street in the middle of one of the high-end neighborhoods but no investor has entered there so it's still the "hood", "ghetto" or whatever it would qualify as. My uncle's so broke, he's can't even buy a lightbulb. My mom sent them some food today. Talk about stupid choices in life... Then I came back home had some food, put on 808's and Heartbreaks and layed back on my bad. This week was tiring. I couldn't do any videos or pictures, or the audio of another Georgian lessons I promised to get Travis. Hope next week will be better... and I'll have more energy.

Thanksgiving Recap

Thanksgiving >>>>> New Year's + Birthday + Halloween + Independence Day....

Yeah, I really enjoy being back home and eating a lot of good, good food. As a family, we watch movies, talk (make fun of each other), and annoy (in the good way). I was able to find out what to get my sisters and mom for Xmas. Their requests are not too expensive so I should be able to make everybody happy! I finally had time to spend by Birthday money after a few weeks of it just chilling on my desk. Still got a gift card to Target and $25 left to spend on myself (that's what it is for).

Plenty of food is left (especially turkey). I look forward to bringing some back to school with me. This break was needed. But not all of it was rest, I just finished my last essay for Eng 215 and will do some more reading while laying in bed.

So, I was accused of being a "Bad Man"... actually, I was told that the above song could be mine. I don't know how to feel about it.

...and then this song

Download

ask any girl in my class... they'll think of me...lol. All I did was singing the chorus once...(ok, ok,  I was addicted for awhile). But little things add up to me being perceived as... I don't even know. Any girl I talk to... some other girl thinks it's me girlfriend or something.

this is funny cause... it's not even close to being true... or is it?

A TRIVIal Thought

The Thanksgiving holiday is upon us. So, I want to share (some of) what I am thankful for:
  1. My academic sitaution - I'm on the verge of getting a degree while many people don't have access to good education. While it is hard and stressful, I would rather be working to learn than working in a factory for low wage. Although I have worked in a factory, I didn't need to work there to know which is a better situation
  2. Friends and Family - I try to consistently let them know I care and appreciate them. So, you should expect they would make the list.
  3. My Damn Self - That's right, you have to love and appreciate yourself. So, I'm thankful for who I am which [I hope] is a good person that likes offensive joks, sports, movies, and randomness.
  4. Food - When is a better time to be thankful for food than Thanksgiving?? I get a nice, big meal cooked by my mom. I may fix a few things too. Yes, I do have cooking skills!
Hint: I will be posting my Xmas "Wish List" just in case someone (cough, couch, Geden, cough, Yaz) were thinking of what to get me since I am leaving Emory

"Sit On The Couch With T.R.I.VI." - Meadsadzanck Interview

So, I think I would make a good talk show host (daytime or late night)! I would call it something like "Sit on the Couch with T.R.I.V.I.". But, since I don't have a show yet, I will just use the blog and Mr. Guntsadze will be the1st to be interviewed by me. Here are the questions:

1. You have many alias/nicknames, which are your favorites and what should we address you as? I thought of this from your FB wall

Meadsadzanck and the Hidden Soul have to be my favorites. You should address me as Givi unless you're addressing Meadsadzanck. As for my other nicknames; G.G. or Jiji is what most of my friends call me in Tbilisi. And I know it's a girl name in U.S. lol. The name has lots of variations like Jijex, jij, jijmensito, jijman... so that's a favorite too. one of my friends and her sister decided to call me Gidzi-Gidzi. but they have an exclusive right to that name.

2. What is your role in WTP? What does it mean to you? It better mean a lot, damn it!

WTP; those 3 letters represent my experience in US. meeting and making making friends with people from all around the world. It represents all the special people who are with me everyday even though we live in different universes. It represents the Connection. It represents my goals. (and I hope it's the same with everybody in WTP)

My role in WTP... I'm taking over the eastern hemisphere.

3. It is clear you enjoy different types of music genres in multiple languages. Can you explain your love for music to us? You even posted some French

My love for music comes from early childhood... I can listen to almost every genre of music out there. From the Beatles to the Prodigy (no, not the rapper). I think it's just a matter of what mood I'm in. I can have fun listening to silly music, that some people might call horrible (and that might actually be a fact) but If I get the mood, I don't care. I've always listened to foreign music even when I didn't understand the language so that's why I have no problem with listening to any music from anywhere. When It comes to Hip-Hop though, I have to understand at least something 'cause the lyricism is what I appreciate.

for everything else just follow my posts.

4. So, you have a job that seems to keep you busy and interested. Is this going to be a career or just a job until graduate school? Hmmmm...

We'll see, I'm definitely not going to go to a graduate school next year. It really depends on where it takes me next two years. Everything looks good and promising.

5. With your current school and job situation, describe a perfect day for Givi? A skype chat with T.R.I.V.I. better be included

A perfect day has to begin no earlier that 12pm cause I like to get some sleep. The weather; Sunshine... Just chilling at home for a while, looking at what my Mom is painting, you know, just being at home with family. Then calling up my friends and going out for a while, making plans for later that day. fooling around, driving without a purpose for a while... I like my driver to be a girl cause most of my friends drive fast but ladies drive slower and I like to chill. Listening to music, being silly... Then going back home to prepare for the night... have a nice dinner, get on the internet, make couple of posts, make a video or something... listening to music again. getting on Skype, chatting with TRIVI, Yaz and anyone else that gets on the skype and decides to chat. (not just to make me fill out somehting)

Finally, going out; it can be to the movies, to a bar, a house party, just hanging in the street... as long as my friends are around.

Coming home late... drink some tea with my Dad... getting on skype again; maybe have a video chat and going to bad at 4am.

6. Looking towards the future (near or distant), what are some things you are looking forward to?? Also, when can we expect to see you back in the States? Don't keep us waiting too long

I'm looking forward to going to the states to visit but I have no idea when it's going to happen.

7. Could you tell us something about yourself that many people do not know (even some of your friends)? Hmmmm...(again)

I could... not now though, let me keep it hidden

That is all the questions I have. If possible, I look forward to interviewing on my blog post in the future. Do you have any last thoughts to offer? You should compliment the interviewer

First Impressions!!

So I have been watching the Blog for a while now, but have not posted till now. Every time I read the blog it always seemed like something was missing ME. But I will like to Thank T.R.I.V.I. and Meadsadzanck for holding down the music side of the page while I was gone. "But this is Old South Talking to you: Don't touch my shit." 305 Dade County in the House, Blog, whatever it is..So look out for the Wire Weekly and the Ones and Twos, which should be dropping soon on the place to be. That DJ G, for all you who don't know less important folk out there, Signing Out.

Take A Trip

World TRIVI
One year in this world is barely a day in yours
Time is precious, but plentiful
The world is neither round nor flat
Instead, forever evolving

As expected, somethings are quite UnWavering
The Sun may never come out each day
But the Soul from within is always shining
The Sky may fill with clouds on rainy days
But Thoughts flow clearly throughout the land

Here, the Body ages
While the Individual is reborn each day
When Eyes rest, Ears are alert
When Gloom attacks, Courage responds

Everyone connected to theOTHERone
An unspoken language is universally understood
Nothing is ever lost, Only stored till time for its Release

A lone Telescope reveals the Hidden Universe
Distant but Close at all times

A trip taken, with still more exploration to go

Song of the Week 11/24

Good video, good song, good concept. We may not all want those "flashing lights" but we do want something. Whatever it is, don't give up on it (as long as it is something good).

the UnWavering uncut

Monday-Thursday
I got my proposition for Haiti back and got a 100, yessir! I deserved it, unfortunately the class didn't pick mine as one of the best and now I have to do a group project on something else. We only get a week of preparation (some got less time). What else....I got back my re-writes for one of my WS classes and my grade was raised for each [2]. This week went by slowly. Maybe because i was not sleeping. Cee-Cee at Cox makes me a special coffee drink when I come by everyday at 2:30 am. I get it for free a lot, too!! I've been listening to a lot of Ludacris and Kanye and I like both albums (Kanye's gets a little tired towards the end, though). Unfortunately, not chatting with anyone this week. Maybe soon, don't know for sure.

Friday-Sunday
I missed my first English class b/c I took a nap at 8:30 am and did not wakeup until 10:30 am. What is even worse is that I had a paper do. Damn, damn, Travis! I couldn't study Friday so when the play was over, I went to my room and watched the Exorcist with my roommate, Daniel. Good movie!! Then, I crashed on my bed for the first time in a few days. I was supposed to go to the library when it opened, but I was too too tired and slept a few more hours. When I got up, hit the library, then the play, then back to the BASE lounge. I was joined by DJ G, Nile Princess, JNeez, Ginika, and Rico stop by for....to handle some business. Sunday was the last day of the play!! Bye, Bye Don Juan and all those long hours sitting in the dark with a headset on!! Wait, can't be too excited cause the Biochem test is Monday evening. So, I'm writing this while taking a break from studying.

Here are some pics that sum up my past two weeks:

Great to here things are going good over in Tbilisi. I think Givi is GMW (Georgia's Most Wanted) cause everybody calls this guy. Were you this popular before coming to America? I guess it is that high confidence level or something.

BSA and NAACP will now Retire!! by Ramone Williams

Just to respond about the comments on SOR. I've been on College Council for three years now and this year I serve on the executive board. I have watched African American's dwindle from 3 my freshman year to only 1 for the past 2 years, myself. If there isn't adequate input from our community on what we would like to see at events that pertain to issues involving our community, then I think we should begin to question how much of a right we have to complain.

I agree that SOR has been better planned and attended in previous years, but in the past we have had larger name speakers and more African Americans on the Council. For an event such as one that features Tatum, a smaller name but a significant topic, publicity and awareness is key. I agree that within the black community a better job could have been done with attendance. The event was attended by mostly upperclassmen, I would have liked to see more freshman and sophomores.

The Council has no control over how pc Dr. Tatum's answers were, and I disagree that about the comment of her being misinformed about the format. We have always used the method with the index cards, and its is for the sake of organization and efficiency. Such a large audience and a venue such as Glenn would not be ideal to accommodate a truly candid and open discussion.

I apologize on behalf of the Council for your dissatisfaction with the event, and I have relayed everyone's concerns and comments about the event to the Council.

However, I strongly encourage you all as African Americans take the initiative to participate in College Council and SGA. I am positive that to have been admitted to Emory, all of us had significant leadership experience in high school. It only makes sense to continue such endeavors in college. I think we need to realize that African American involvement is needed in organizations beyond BSA, NAACP and other black organizations on campus. College Council is the undergraduate governing body of the college, it allocates the largest sum of money and has the most influence. We charter the most influential groups on campus including SGA and ResLife. What 1 person can do in College Council is what 30 can do in BSA and NAACP. Not to deter involvement in those groups, I commend all the groups for the significant impact and contributions they continue to make, but do not limit yourself. Like I mentioned before I am the only black person on the Council and I have no voting power because I am on exec. There is no one of our color deciding how the over $300,000 from the student activity fee that EVERYONE has paid is spent and allocated to student groups.

I encourage everyone to run next spring if you would like to see changes and improvements made especially when it comes to events such as SOR.

State of the Race

Can someone please explain WTF went down at the event? Why do I ask? If you are like me, you don't check the TRE conference often but there have been a lot of dispute going on in the conference that is rooted in SOR and CC. I read a few of the posts and was so damn insulted I had to comment (I rarely post on TRE cause it is just a distraction from doing work). Whatever started it, I can predict that Ramone will never sit by me and JNeez in class again.

P.S. South Carolina boys will rip (blog, LL, whatever) if you say some *ish that is disrespectful. Props to Rico!

the Hidden Weekly

Week 7

Monday: Put final touches on the contract for the business newspaper that pulishes our adds. Then I went to their office so that they could sign it. There were some other issues I had to sort out with their designer who was rude but I can handle rude. anyways, then I went to the IREX office ( organization that run the exchange program I  participated in). They're recruiting people for next year so I'll help out and make a presentation about the program at my school. Then I went home and had a nice home cooked meal. one of the classes got canceled so... I had time. At my evening class, everything went well, got grades for midterm. I got 96% for that, I got 96% in another midterm (another class with the same teacher). I have 96% in another test as well. I don't know what it's all about. Also my internet got cut off again that day... I was mad and I just called another company and changed the provider.

Tuesday: normal day at work, not too busy. We all went to a restaurant nearby for maybe an hour, took a little break (Ok, it was big). The class was fun man... I don't know how I manage to do it but school is fun. Also, it turned out that all the pictures we took on Sunday got deleted from a camera, that sucks, 'cause they were good. We had fun...

Wednesday: had to leave work to get home cause ISP people had to set up the equipment for my new internet connection. Actually it was just one guy who asked me about how much my laptop cost, how good America was and if the weed was good over there. I had a 30 minute break but I was absent for an hour and 30 minutes... it's all good as long as I do my thing. At the French class, we got a great news that next class is midterm (yes, it's kinda late for a midterm). Anyways... at night I tested my internet connection; definitely better.

Thursday: uhm... Thursday... oh... and I was going to say I didn't remember. It was a long day and not the best day either. I went to work, then went to class, then back to work... we visited a neighborhood we want to buy out and build an apartment complex. That was tiring as {don't insert any cuss words, I don't want you to cuss, so I'll do it myself; fuck} Then I got a call from my friends Lado and Bacho, asking me to go to a class reunion that I didn't want to go to. I ended up going just because I wanted to see them, I was out in the cold and I was hungry... my other fomer class mates; I don't care. I got another call from my friend Guga(he's a classmate too but I knew he wasn't going). He wanted to borrow some money, He's always in trouble lately but that's only because he made stupid choices. I gave him all I had... He's my brother. But if he keeps going this way he'll end up going without me. I didn't have fun at a reunion at all... Rati who we haven't seen since finishing school showed up, he's still on drugs, not doing anything... He was so alienated, couldn't talk with us. That just killed me. I got out of the bar to take a walk. It was a little cold but it felt good, walking in the street which was quite and empty despite the abundance of bars... yellow leaves on the road, iPod on with blu telling me to Maintain. I got back in for a while, then I left and walked home. it was midnight so the streets were pretty empty. I just went to bed.

Friday: new day, baby! I keeps going! wrapped up all the work I had to finish and went to class. Everyone was surprised by the fact that I decided to wear a suit that day. They're too used to my hoodies and baggy jeans. That was funny. At the class the teacher told me that I got another 96% in one of the quizes. lol.

Saturday: that's today, I'll just add the Sunday part tomorrow. As always; briefing at wok, class. We talked about body language and its effects today. Only time I enjoyed that class, it was funny. But that stuff is nothing but another way of stereotyping people, it's interesting but I'm not sure about the validity. And I don't care if it's true in general. No single case is general. Then I got a haircut and went home to study... after a while I got a call from Salome (who just added you on FB, Trav). Salome, another Salome aka Basto, Teo and Tika were driving around so I hopped in the car as well. We drove around for a while then just got back home. I chatted with Salome later, discussed stuff that's on our minds... that was very therapeutic.... now, I'll get back to eating M&M's and watch Saw V... see what happens tomorrow.

Tomorrow aka Sunday: Saw V was pretty good not as impressive as the previous parts though. As for the day, it went by pretty fast. I slept till late today, that was good. I love to get some sleep whenever I can. I do. Then my friend Levan came over for a little while. (T.R.I.V.I you might remember talking to him on skype at my room). Then we took a walk, I was going to a project meeting. The group meeting was short because I had to leave early. I had to see my friends. We had something to discuss. So I left the girls to meet up with Salome. We went to see our friend. Spent couple of hours there... she said that Travis added her on FB which I already knew. in the meantime I was receiving calls and messages from my other friends. They were at a cafe so I ended up going there too... had some good laughs. My friend ended up at a gay party without knowing. LOL. The way he told the story was hillarious. I had tears in my eyes from laughing. Then I went to the movies... it's a private place, you have to order a room in advance and you can watch whatever. We watched Mirrors. It was pretty good. (Do I have to say that Paula Patton is beautiful?) After that I decided not to go to a party. There's only one Meadsadzanck... demand is going up but the supply is fixed. I just took a walk with Mariam and came home (She went home too).

That's it for this week... the end

Travis Meadows - When U Cut Me, I Bleed The Blues

I feel obligated to post it.

Redman - I'll Be Dat

The video quality is bad but what do you expect? The video is old. Still Redman is funny, the video is funny, and the song is funny!!Hip-Hop could use some Method Man and Redman collaboration, I'm just saying my thoughts. Back to Biochem studying...

Johnson&Jonson - Up All Night

This song is like a soundtrack to one of those late nights at GP03; movies, music, making videos, stepping, fooling around, talking... getting some sleep in the morning...

T-Pain - Karaoke

This is for the Asians!...they love Karaoke (no offense)! I respect Mr. Pain as an artist and the beginning of this is funny so here it is.

Janelle Monae - Many Moons

I thought I posted this already...either way, enjoy it. I love the song, always play it in my car (when i actually have it)!!

  2. I received my second medical school interview from MUSC
  3. I completed my interview w/ Dr. Marsteller for WS (it went good)
  4. Thanksgiving is closer
  5. I found some free software to learn a few more Georgian words (investment in friendship)
  6. I ordered "The Audacity of Hope" by Prez Obama for my momma/madre/deda
  7. I made it through

the UnWavering uncut

The first week of Don Juan is complete with one more weekend of shows left. In an earlier post, I put that "headphones are the answer", this was my solution to dealing with some (not all) the people there. I just put on the headphones and shake my head at everybody. Watching the play repeatedly is so boring so I listen to music (I'm liking the new Kanye right now, I'm feeling the emotions).

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - don't really remember much accept I know I was drank coffee, studies, rehearsed for the play.

Thursday - I think I got ditched but didn't bother to figure the situation out.

Friday - the damn Theater again....oh, but I did officially start shopping for Xmas gifts (and late Birthday gifts, Nev). Everybody will (hopefully) get something personal/custom cause that's how I (we) do....H.S. can confirm. Guess who's on top of the list??? Yes, me! Sorry, Bad Clowns don't tell good jokes.

Saturday - Study at the library, then work at the play, then play video games and see a movie (Quantom Solace) with Igor. Dude gave me a gift for my birthday but I couldn't accept it. When he gave it to me, I thought it was just a t-shirt and I was like "nope, don't want it" but turns out it was something impressive. Maybe I will get it soon, I wanted it after I actually looked at it and saw what it was. With it, I have like a "theme" going on with gifts from people.

Sunday - Theater, the damn Theater (when the play was over, we had to stay another 1.5 hrs just to take pics....I didn't participate, just typed my "All of the UnWavering" post)

**I have some more pics from the play and stuff but they will be posted when all the...ish...is don't. Until next time, bye bye from the Sad Clown formerly known as T.R.I.V.I.**

(I apologize for looking like a damn Crackhead...I'm back to my handsome self now)

This was literally minutes after Obama was announced as winner of the election. Pure excitement and energy from almost everybody at Clairmont. Here is video of my SC brethren Rico and I make a cameo at the end!

Song of the Week 11/16

I'm broke right now so this song connects with me...please, please "let the dollar circulate" (like it does for Meadsadzanck who got his 1st paycheck, congratulations!!)

Young Jeezy -
Circulate (produced by Don Cannon)

All of The UnWavering (Pt 2)

I have about a month of school left before I'm done. I'm not sure how to feel. How should I feel???? Financially, I need to get out of here. Socially, my best friends are here at Emory. It is ackward with most friends back home cause I have "college stories" and most of them just....been living life in Spartanburg. I guess in the back of my head, I feel like I will miss out on things or be forgotten. With school, it is easy to forget about the people you don't see very often (I've definitely done it). There was one individual (won't say her name) that was mad at me for graduating early. I got mad at her but later I felt.....sad because she was going to miss me. Then, I think "I'm only in SC". Not a very long drive for me to visit. But, after 3 summers at home, I know just how distant my hometown is from Atlanta. I get there, get really busy (working, etc), and I don't make it out.

A big part of me wants to stay in ATL. My older sister is here and will be alone if I leave.....but my mom is alone in Spartanburg. Awwww, I feel bad either way. I think about the decision everyday although I should be focusing on school. Right now, I would not graduate because of two classes! I am not doing well in them for many reasons. I gotta figure something out. I was on the phone last night and told someone that "I am depressed". This is kind of accurate but hopefully the holiday season will bring a lot of happiness. [I have officially begun gift shopping for everyone...almost everyone].

I feel bad when people ask me "are you okay?" I say "yeah, I'm good" but this is not always true. There have been a few personal losses in the past few weeks and I haven't spoken to anyone about it (this is the first time I have mentioned it to anyone). Emotionally I am handling it well. Maybe because school keeps me so busy that I don't have time to feel (some)things.

I need to make some calls cause a few people are worried about me. I get off FB and some people get really worried. I still need to thank my aunt and grandmother for birthday cards.....my grandmother is going to lecture me and I must ignore her (the relationship is complicated). I will try to make part 3 more positive. If it is not...I will keep it to myself.

All of The UnWavering (Pt 1)

About 6 months ago, I left Atlanta for home and said goodbye to some good friends. I admit to having doubts about whether the friendships would last but.....there are no doubts now. My junior year was my best year and it is due to those new friends. But, moving on to the summer back home....I knew it would be hard but it got almost overwhelming. Let me explain:

When I got home, we celebrated my sister graduationg from High School. [We are so proud and she is doing good at USC]. I hesitated to unpack because going back to Sparkle City is like walking into a trap. You get in and you cannot get out. There is so much opportunity in Atlanta and good people and Spartanburg just.....different. If you are black male, you need to leave because chances are you might get killed or through away your life because you think working in a factory is the best you can do. One good thing is I had a new asset to my room...my Georgian flag & prayer. [It meant a lot, that's the best way I can explain].

So, I get home and do my usual "job" thing meaning I get two (TJ Maxx & tutoring Physics). Together, I made decent $$. The struggle was preparing for the MCAT. I studied, took the test, and realized my studying was useless. My MCAT score was so bad that when I got it, I immediately signed up for another test the same day. Because of re-taking the test, I got no free time during the summer. I get up, jog, study, go to work, study, then try to sleep (I never sleep good at home). While doing all of this, I also volunteered at a free healthcare clinic where I saw some awful stuff. People too poor to pay for the medication, too sick to work, sick kids. Forget that stuff on TV, this was real life. I learned so much about how important helping people is (forget about if they have money) but it was heavy on my heart. I don't cry...but on my first night I almost did cause this woman was begging for help. [I'm not sure if the got it :( ]. So many people need help but not enough people are offering. Guess I will have to do it. Over the summer, me and Yaz definitely became closer through our mutual struggles. She gave me advice and I gave her advice. Givi always offered "supportive" words. I really appreciate it cause he was/is dealing with some pretty major stuff over there. I was watching CNN all the time cause I was freaking out....things over there are still...I don't know....but I do know my friend is still good.

Aside from academics, we (me and my sisters) had to worry about my mother being at home alone. Plus, she works two jobs! If something happens to her, we are not there. I worry about it a lot. In the spring, my father went to jail for stealing. Before I came back to school, he was out and requested to write me. My response was "yeah, whatever". He is trying to fix his life for the...100th time, no exaggeration. That's cool but don't think that I am going to be a part of that. I can help people who are more deserving, let me move on before I get mad.

The summer ends and I made a little money but all of it goes towards medical school applications. Then I find out that I lost a damn scholarship. Now, I gotta find money for books cause I got 6 classes (1 with a lab). I endure...to be continued

the Hidden Weekly

Week 6

Monday; let's start witht he fact that I only had one class that day. It feels so good when you have extra time to have a rest. One of my friends came by my office and we went to McDonalds ( yeah I know it's not the healthiest food), she brought Data and his friend along. I took a break and then came back to office just to help a coworker sort out some things in MS excel and then leave for class.
Tuesday: Guess what... the class got canceled. lol, this week was full of surprises. So it was just work that day. I chatted with Igor who asked me to fill out a feedback form and describe his contributions. It was interesting but a little bit hard, I alsi had an honor to watch the car dance video posted somewhere below. Igot get the most random videos. as far as the work goes, I got the advertisement for the business newspaper ready and sent it ove.
Wednesday: Got a contract from the newspaper and sent it to a lawyer to make sure everything was alright. We added a point which later turned into a subject of chaotic negotiations. We were able to negotiate everything we wanted to. I had another unanounced test in French that day but I knew I would have it. That dumb ass teacher announces the test in other classes but not in ours and we have to guess that the test is coming.
Thursday; nothing too exciting. Got the news about the death of Data's father. Sad, sad, sad... I feel bad. I went to class, then home and then to see data with my friends. The whole thing put me in a bad mood for couple of days.
Friday; work, visited data again, didn;t make it to class becaus of a huge traffic jam. Not a very exciting day. Started a chat with Nevena, she replied after quite a while... somehow our chats don't work
Saturday: briefing at work where I managed to convince the CEO that we don't need no corporate ties. I would hate to wear a tie at work so I had to do something about it. I got out of the class right after the class, went to a funeral. We manage to follow some other people and ended up at a different funeral. We manage to find Data later though. Then I went back to office, had to finish some stuff. At night I went to a club for the first time since I got back. I have to admit that even though the clubs are pretty good here it's nothing like US. First of all the music, House musinc and all the electronic music stuff is not suited for a dance. I would just have fun doing the Cupid shuffle then juping around to a crazy beat of a techno DJ. Then the bouncers and the line of people trying to get in. There is no line, it's chaos and everybody (almos) tryes to act tough. That's why these dudes got beaten up right in front of me by bouncers. I'm not down with vilence but they had it coming. One of them stepped on my sneakers during the fight ( I mean geting knocked the F#$k out). That made me mad, lol. after an hour of being in line I got in. It was an event of a company that my friends work for. one of them gave us tickets so we had to go. I had a lot of fun. It was good but there was no control. It was an 21 and up event but some of the empolyees (including my friend) were younger than that.
Sunday: I had an additional class where we played a game about recruiting emplyees. We'll continue with taht later. Then I saw my friend and his girlfriend, chilled for a while. After that I went to a bar wo see my friends from school. Had a lot of fun. Drinking, dancing, singing out of tune - all of that. I'll add some pics later on.
Of course the week was accompanied by facebook messages and skype chats with some of my favorite people.
That's it for this week.... peace!

6 months... unhiding the Hidden

It's been six months since I returned home. It was a long way and I don't mean just those two days I spent on the plane and at different airports.

... at first it was very difficult although I never admitted it, it was. I remember the first few day when I got here. I was silent. It was 3am when the plane touched down and I was my parents and my friends at the airports waiting for me... I had a lot to say but I couldn't. My mind was still in ATL at Emory... I still take a trip there from time to time when I want to escape from the problems here. " it's not where you live but where your brains stay" has never been so true. I'm happy we manage to keep our friendship alive, my American friends and I. This blog is a great example.

It was hard to get back on track at home. It felt like (still does sometimes) I escaped to a better world but fell right back on the ground. I came back to the same problems I was happy to leave when I went to America; My uncle with his shitty life and grandma who lives with him and is the only reason I got there to visit. That whole neighborhood is depressing... it's like a little ghetto in the middle of the city. my own neighborhood that is no better, always noisy and dirty... the list can go one but I definitely find beauty in my life and that's what keeps me going.

Alright, this post is getting a little sad so let's move on... I was happy to share my story about US with my friends and everybody else who wanted to know. People kept asking the same question; "how was it there?" and my answer is still the same "Great". I made everybody watch "The Adventures of GTG", that was an obligation. Unfortunately the DVD got damaged later. My birthday came on June 7th and I had a great time with my friends. Really, really... really apreciated a gift sent from overseas by my BFAM. Then the school started and as soon as life got busy I started to think less about what I left in the states and more on what I brought with me. My confidence level went to an all time high during these past 6 months. No longer a shy kid, I control it now. I'm not mad at the world anymore (maybe that was just a thing of being a teenager?) I keep my world positive and hate when I catch myself saying something bad... take that back, I love it cause it's an opportunity to improve.

Then came war.... I don't want to talk about that. No unhiding here.

As far the fall... It's the school, hanging out with my favorite people whenever I get a chance and work. It's hard, tiring, full of problems but... "I got great problems though, my problems are good"
As for the Hidden Part... I miss all of you in the states just like I missed my family when I was over there and thinking that I might not see some of you in years (never say never) makes me miss you even more. (not many can read this but this still goes out to all)

A TRIVIal Thought

From my past (and recent) experiences, I have learned that:

"People who care about you will always listen to what you have to say"

By listening, they show trust and compassion for your thoughts and your situation. Those who would make an assumption rather than ask were never really concerned with you. Assumption are just shortcuts we take to avoid committing time to someone else. Do not be hurt by this because it is hard to care for people (although we should still try to care about everyone). Some people are better at it than others. Also, caring can make your heart heavy, especially when the people you care about are hurting.

So, if you care then make sure you care enough to listen (even when you feel like you don't need to). Try to remember what is means to the other person. And, be conscious of how you feel when the people who are supposed to care and be your friends don't listen to you.

My Favorite Album

Greatness !!! Give me this album and I'm good.
Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor

I live/lived some of these songs. "He Say She Say" is something too many kids and mothers relate with. The last verse of "Hurt Me Soul" is packed with so much content. "Real Recognize Real" and "Theme Music To A Drive By" have incredible lyricism above anything I have ever heard. "Sunshine" makes you feel good about your special lady (not as good as Atmosphere's "Sunshine" though). "Make Sure" is very subtle metaphors that not enough people can catch. Everything else..."The Instrumental", "The Cool".....are great too! I have included songs that were on the original that leaked, for those have not noticed.

A History of Violence

Jedi Mind Tricks
This is their latest album. Don't know much about them but the reviews are good so here it is.

WTP Approved Classic: Hybrid Theory

Their first album was their best, a definite classic.

808's & Leakage

These songs have been leaked (almost the whole album) and I offer them to you. Not sure what I think of the album so far. Listen to the one with Wayne and decide who sounds better with auto-tune!!

**Error**"Any Way" and "Paranoid" are the same song...sorry

some french for your ears

I'm a fan of all kinds of music, even this... Daft Punk is probably my favorite French group but I also enjoy french rapping... these are not the best songs but I like the videos and the vibe in them.

IAM feat Wu affiliates - La Saga

IAM - Dance Le Mia

Brasco - France d'en Bas

Sniper - trait pour trait (the video is priceless)

the Hidden Post

... I just felt like posting so here it is for those who can read this

today was crazy at work, negotiating one of the points of a contract with an advertisier. We succeeded. There was this rude bitch at their financial department who would not stop running her mouth and I had to keep it polite and shit. (I apologize for cussing, but it's appropriate there)

Aqua Teen Hunger Force

This is my favorite (adult) cartoon along with Family Guy. Adult Swim knows how to make people laugh! Enjoy...now back to my reading before another class starts.

**Don Juan opening this Thursday...I plan on delivering the "behind the scene footage" thanks to my phone (which I found out has photo editing on it, ooohh!)

Song of the Day

B.o.B - Middle Of The Day

I got this song today and it reminded me of a flight from DC to ATL (with a transfer in Charlotte) in January... All of that brought good memories in turn so there you go... It's my song of the day.

Bonus: B.o.B - I'll Be In The Sky
